Oct. 20 (UPI) — The Washington Commanders fear that veteran wide receiver Terry McLaurin sustained a serious knee injury, coach Dan Quinn told reporters.
McLaurin was carted off the field in the second quarter of a 23-17 loss to the San Fransisco 49ers on Monday in Santa Clara, Calif. He logged a 27-yard catch prior to his exit and did not return.
"The concern is that it could be significant, but we will do the scans [Tuesday]," Quinn said. "That’s the concern, but I don’t want to read in until we know, but there’s fear."
McLaurin was running a route just before the two minute warning during the sequence. His legs gave out during the play and he went down, grasping his left knee. Trainers tended to McLaurin before he was taken off the field on a cart.

McLaurin, who played just seven snaps for the Commanders, caught 15 passes for a team-high 230 yards and a score through his first five appearances this season.
Tight end Chig Okonkwo led the Commanders with seven catches for 69 yards against the 49ers. Diggs hauled in six catches for 44 yard and a score. Burks caught four passes for 66 yards in the loss.
The Commanders (1-4-1) will be on bye in Week 7. They will host the Philadelphia Eagles (2-4) on Nov. 1 in Landover, Md. The 49ers (6-0) will meet the Atlanta Falcons (2-4) on Sunday in Atlanta.
