A night for the history books.

The New York Knicks will receive their 2026 NBA championship rings during a special ceremony ahead of their season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, commemorating the franchise’s first NBA title in 53 years on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Ahead of the unveiling, Jason Arasheben — owner of Jason of Beverly Hills, known globally for its one-of-a-kind diamond pieces that shatter the boundaries set forth by traditional jewelers — spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about designing the Knicks’ championship ring, an honor he delivered with pride.

“You’re talking about arguably the greatest city on earth that’s waited 53 years for a ring, so I understood the importance of delivering a masterpiece. Not something that’s good enough, but a masterpiece,” Arasheben tells PEOPLE exclusively. “And so I think we’ve done that with this particular ring.”

Knowing how much the title means to N.Y.C., the Los Angeles-based jeweler designed and manufactured the Jalen Brunson-led team’s championship ring with the “energy” of the city behind him, because he understands the importance of the momentous feat.

In classic Jason of Beverly Hills fashion, the team took the championship ring’s design up a notch with intricate details and symbolism significant to the Knicks. The ring dazzles with a “monstrous” amount of diamonds, yet ensures a “timeless” look that is at the forefront of its creation.

“This ring has to stand the test of time. This ring has to be something that looks just as special 30 years from now as it does tonight, so we went with a standard cushion shape,” Arasheben reveals. “The ring has over 22 carats of diamonds, which is a monstrous amount of diamonds.”

“It weighs over 160 grams, nearly 200 grams,” he shares. “The New York Knicks logo is in orange sapphires on the top with a white diamond border. In the background behind the logo, the New York Knicks blue sapphires set in a radial pattern, which mimics the inside of Madison Square Garden when you look up at the stadium from your seats.”

One side of the ring features every Knicks player’s number, while the other side of the band is personalized with the individual player’s name. The other side of the ring reads “World Champions,” along with the Larry O’Brien trophy and the player’s jersey number adorned in diamonds.

The inside of the ring reads “10 weeks,” which represents the 10 weeks Knicks owner James Dolan asked players to sacrifice during their championship run, while the bottom of the band says “Knicks in Five,” speaking to the five games it took the team to defeat the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals.

“We also took it a step further,” notes Arasheben. “We wanted to build a storyline for how many stones represent what. So on this particular ring, we have 16 emerald cut diamonds on the top to represent the 16 playoff wins.”

“We have 69 points of diamonds on the ‘World Champions’ to represent the total wins in the season, regular season playoffs combined,” he explains. “You have a 16-point diamond in the ball of the Larry O’Brien Trophy to represent the 16-point comeback in game five, which ultimately led to the championship.”

Since its inception in 2002, Jason of Beverly Hills has pushed the limits of conventional fine jewelry standards, rapidly gaining a global reputation for creating bespoke diamond pieces for an extremely selective clientele, including celebrities, professional athletes and royalty.

“How we made our name in the championship ring industry is that we always do something very special, a unique feature,” Arasheben makes clear. “I always want to have something bigger and better. And so on this ring, we have two features because New York doesn’t deserve just one feature.”

Jason of Beverly Hills specializes in its wow-factor craftsmanship, creating rings with removable pieces and interactive elements. Accordingly, the Knicks ring features a twist-off top to unveil Madison Square Garden’s lower bowl, as well as the basketball court in yellow gold. But this time, the designer took it a step further.

The “special feature” pays homage to Madison Square Garden, comprised of a twistable inner bezel on the top of the ring to unveil a statuette of the world’s greatest arena, which rises from the center with all the venue’s details.

“I’m talking about the windows, every single detail,” he says. “It’s something that’s never been done before. It’s an engineering feat that took us quite some time. We were able to accomplish. It’s something that we’re very proud of, and I think it’s something that New York will be very proud of as well.”

“I’m proud of our team to be able to create a special feature that’s never been done before, that’s never been seen before, and I think that people will appreciate for generations,” Arasheben adds of the ring designers he works alongside.
