The Philadelphia 76ers have put together quite the roster to make a serious run at a championship. For that reason, many people have their eyes on the team to see how things play out this season.
The 76ers have a deep starting five that could give opposing teams fits. However, people like Jeff Teague don’t believe they have what it takes to compete for a championship.
“Everybody got a lot of high hopes for the Sixers, I’m not a fan. I don’t think they going to be that good. I got them 4th seed in the East… It’s too much sacrifice, who’s going to sacrifice all that? The first time they go on a 4 game losing streak and they start saying something to Bron. Well you know Bron is old, some sh*t going to happen," Teague said.
On Tuesday, the 76ers opened their season with a win over the New York Knicks. LeBron James felt good about how his team performed.
“I feel a lot better. Still getting my rhythm. Obviously, you know, just a little bit over two weeks with the new squad. I like the way we play. I think we played exceptionally well, especially defensively. We didnt shoot the ball well, but we have capable shooters. We know that. It’s about winning. Just trying to make plays to win,” James said.
During the game, James was caught talking trash to a fan, and the exchange seemed to get him going. The four-time NBA champion was also caught on a hot mic commenting on the officiating, suggesting the Knicks were already receiving a championship whistle.
“They win one chip they get a championship whistle,” James said.
Philadelphia did commit more fouls than New York, but the difference was only one. Still, James appeared to believe the Knicks were already getting some favorable calls, and his comments were caught on a hot mic.
The 76ers spoiled the Knicks’ ring ceremony by earning the victory. Philadelphia will now play in front of its home crowd on Thursday, where James could have another opportunity to make his presence felt.
