Arsenal have been dealt a concerning injury setback after Bukayo Saka limped off during the Gunners’ UEFA Champions League match at Bayern Munich.

Following a trademark burst forward, Saka cut inside and released the ball to a teammate before immediately dropping to the ground in pain. It remains unclear which part of his leg he had injured.

Saka signaled to the bench immediately and received medical attention on the field. However, he was unable to continue and was substituted by Eberechi Eze after just 10 minutes, as per The Mirror.

Eze made an immediate impact 14 minutes later when he fired Arsenal into the lead. Martin Ødegaard played a superb cross-field ball into the England international’s path on the left-hand side.

The former Crystal Palace winger brought the ball under control and hammered home left-footed to put the Gunners ahead. The goal was initially ruled offside, but VAR determined that Eze had timed his run perfectly.

However, familiar tormentor Harry Kane played a pivotal role as Bayern drew level before halftime. Kane delivered a sublime through ball for Alfonso Davies, who went in one-on-one with David Raya and finished coolly.

A goal against the Gunners would draw the England captain to within one game of tying Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League record of finding the back of the net in 11 straight matches. The 33-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur striker has already scored nine goals in 10 games so far this season across all competitions.

Arsenal are aiming to maintain their perfect record in this season’s Champions League, having won their opening two fixtures without conceding a single goal.

The Gunners went all the way to last season’s final, suffering a heartbreaking penalty defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest.
