Shelby’s Wrestling Corner aims to free Kyle Fletcher from his faction
About the Series: Shelby’s Wrestling Corner discusses wrestlers in AEW and WWE who made an impact over the last week. Whether it be a cool move that made the crowd gasp or a promo that stuck with fans days later, this is a place to celebrate professional wrestling. This week, we will be looking at performances from Oct. 16 to Oct. 22, 2026.
There are wrestlers who are meant to be in groups and there are people meant to be singles stars. I typically support people in groups, because I know they can go off on their own in the future, but this week I want to talk about a man who needs to leave the tag team scene, leave his toxic "family," and be the star he has proven he can be on his own.
That is right, this week’s Wrestler of the Week is AEW’s Kyle Fletcher.
Since Aussie Open debuted in AEW, Fletcher has been a star. Over the years he has only gotten better. Growing from a small kid to a man not afraid to stand in the spotlight. He just needs to be in the spotlight on his own.
As a singles competitor, winning the International and TNT Championships, Fletcher has shown that he can stand on his own. Right now he is stuck with his faction as they tackle a Blood & Guts match put on the table by a returning Steven Borden, but I would not be surprised if we are in the final moments of Fletcher and the Don Callis Family.
There are several talented members of that faction, but that doesn’t mean it needs to exist. A majority of the stars in the group could step away, remain heels if they want, and reach new heights. I thought Fletcher would leave when Konosuke Takeshita left, but he didn’t; now I just have to hope his rivalry with Kevin Knight, a man who is on the same team as him, will drive him away.
