Charles Kelly on ESPN docuseries about Saban: ‘I lived it’
JACKSONVILLE — ESPN has produced a docuseries about former Alabama football coach Nick Saban, and Jacksonville State’s Charles Kelly said he hasn’t seen it yet.
"I lived it," said Kelly, who was Alabama’s assistant defensive coordinator in 2019-22.
"I’m very thankful I lived it."
Kelly, who is Jax State’s second-year head coach, was part of a Saban staff that won a national title in 2020 and finished national runner-up in 2021.
He said he’ll wait until the six-part series is finished before he tunes in. ESPN has broadcast three of the six episodes so far, although all six are available on the ESPN app.
"If I start something, I want to finish it," Kelly said. "So when I watch ‘Landman,’ I want to watch the whole thing. I watch ‘Marshals.’ I want to watch the whole thing.
"When I watch the Saban documentary, I want to watch the whole thing."
He said he went to the premiere in Tuscaloosa when the initial episode was released Oct. 8.
"So I did get to see some clips," he said.
