Cincinnati welcomes No. 8 Texas Tech to Nippert Stadium for a homecoming clash on Saturday, when the Bearcats will be on upset alert as they look to mark a big weekend in style. The Red Raiders are yet to lose this season and have won their last three games in the Big 12 by a combined margin of 85 points.

That being said, Cincy promises to throw up a better opposition than any of Sam Houston, Colorado or Arizona State could muster over the past month. That’s despite the fact that head coach Scott Satterfield’s side is coming off the back of two straight defeats and most recently suffered an upset loss at West Virginia, with the Bearcats suitably back at home for the first time in nearly a month this weekend.

Texas Tech is averaging around 41 points scored per game, the large majority of which has been accumulated thanks to its varied (and deep) ground game. The Red Raiders have scored twice as many rushing touchdowns (16) as they have receiving, with J’Koby Williams (five) and Cameron Dickey (four) accounting for most of those.

It’s a very similar tale for Cincinnati, who has star running back Cole Tabb (eight) and quarterback JC French (six) to thank for the bulk of its scoring. French IV has also thrown 10 touchdown passes and is still yet to record his first interception of the season as he faces far and away his most difficult challenge of the campaign so far.
