Nick Nurse wasn’t about to let Donald Trump’s latest verbal swipe derail his locker room.
Donald Trump went right after LeBron James on Truth Social, calling him a “total disgrace” and demanding an apology to American veterans after James was caught moving around, airing out a golf swing during the national anthem before Philadelphia’s season opener.
On the floor, the noise hasn’t rattled Philly one bit. The 76ers are off to a clean 2-0 start with wins over the Knicks and Cavaliers, and LeBron has quietly run the show, putting up 31 points, 19 rebounds, and 12 assists across those two games.
Nick Nurse blocks out the noise from Donald Trump
Nick Nurse couldn’t care less about Donald Trump taking swings at LeBron James, brushing it off as just another distraction to ignore. Instead of taking the bait, the Sixers coach praised his locker room for keeping their heads down and staying locked in between the practice court and the film room.
He said (as per Inquirer): “Right in with all the other outside noise we’ve already had. All I really care about is getting them to the practice floor, getting in the film room, getting them to the game floor. And the focus that they’ve had and the intent and all the stuff they’ve had has been excellent.”
This bad blood goes way back. The clash really took off in 2017 when LeBron famously called Trump a “b**” after the White House yanked Steph Curry’s championship invite. Trump fired right back, questioning LeBron’s smarts and taking petty digs about preferring Michael Jordan.
They’ve traded shots on and off for nearly a decade, turning every occasional jab into instant front-page theater, and it doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon.
