Angel Reese has been absolutely dominant throughout the postseason and into the WNBA Finals, but she did not have a good game on Saturday.

The Atlanta Dream had a chance to move within one win of their first WNBA championship on Saturday, hosting the Golden State Valkyries in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals at State Farm Arena. Instead, the Valkyries walked out with a 67-62 win, evening the series at 2-2.

Atlanta star Angel Reese had one of her worst all-around games of her entire career, just one day after saying the Dream had gotten into the Valkyries’ heads, which she took responsibility for during the postgame press conference.

Reese Claims Mental Edge

After dropping Game 1 in San Francisco, the Dream rolled through Games 2 and 3, winning them by a combined 40 points. That included a 97-71 blowout in Game 3 on Wednesday.

Golden State’s ball security was a big problem in those losses as the Valkyries committed 36 turnovers across Games 2 and 3, which Atlanta turned into 46 points on the other end of the court.

Ahead of Game 4, Reese made it clear that she felt the Dream had the upper hand.

“They’re playing into my mental game where I can take their confidence and just try to do whatever to mess them up,” Reese said Friday.

“I think you can see it in their emotions, in their facial expressions,” Reese added, via the San Francisco Chronicle.

‘I Rushed A Lot Of My Shots’

While Reese might have entered Game 4 with a lot of confidence, she certainly did not have her best day on the court as she finished with just eight points on 2-of-12 shooting to go with nine rebounds and a game-high six turnovers.

It was her lowest field goal percentage in any game this postseason, and her third lowest in any contest this season. It was Reese’s first career game being held to single-digit points and rebounds when playing at least 30 minutes.

“I think it was just me. I rushed my shots,” Reese said after the game, via ESPN. “I didn’t take my time and finish around the basket like I’ve been doing the last two games.

“We have to stand together. If we stand together and get back to our identity, we’ll be fine,” she added,

Now, the series shifts back to San Francisco for Game 5 on Monday, with both teams looking for the franchise’s first championship. We’ll have to see how Reese bounces back.
