Frustration boils over for Jets’ Garrett Wilson after second straight minimal target game
Garrett Wilson was very vocal about his lack of targets last week.
Jets coaches acknowledged that after giving him just six looks against the Patriots, they had to find a way to get him more involved in the offense early and often.
Come Sunday, though, that didn’t end up being the case.
The star wide receiver wasn’t targeted at all as Gang Green’s offense failed to get much of anything going in an ugly first half showing against the winless Dolphins.
Wilson recorded his first catch of the day on the last play of the opening drive of the third quarter, but he was targeted just two more times the rest of the way.
He finished with two catches for 26 total yards in what was an ugly 28-25 loss.
To make matters worse, frustration appeared to boil over late in the fourth quarter, as the 26-year-old wideout was shown on the CBS broadcast yelling in QB Geno Smith’s direction on the Jets sidelines.

Postgame, though, Wilson revealed that the frustration wasn’t directed at the quarterback.
“We were heated, but not at each other,” he said. “We were just disappointed with how we’d been playing up until that point and wanted to be a little more aggressive, that’s all that was there.”
As far as his lack of targets, head coach Aaron Glenn took full responsibility.
“A player of his magnitude, we have to do everything we can to get him the ball,” he said. “I’m going to put that on myself, because that’s in the gameplan to try and get it to him — we have to do everything we can to make sure we do that.”
