Philadelphia legend Allen Iverson has backed the 76ers to win the NBA Championship this season.

The retired icon is one of the biggest sporting names to come out of Philly, and his opinions carry a lot of weight among Sixers fans.

Now, after watching his former side start the season in fine fashion, Iverson is adamant that nobody can stop the 76ers this season.

Allen Iverson predicts Philadelphia 76ers will win the NBA Championship this season

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a dream start to the new season.

The Sixers won each of their first three games, and although they suffered defeat in their fourth fixture, their performances have convinced many people that they could go all the way.

Iverson is one of them, and he has no doubt in his mind that Philly will win the NBA Championship this season.

He told Jeff Skversky: “Do I think? I know for a fact it can happen. Because I’m confident in the ability of the guys that we have on the roster. I’m confident in our coaching staff. I’m confident in Kevin Johnson, the trainer and all the people we got in place to help us make this thing go.

“Most importantly, we’ve got the best fans in the world. They are going to show up and show out for us. We’re going to have a parade. I promise you that.

“He (LeBron James) knows it. I don’t have to tell him that. He’s been there and done it. He has had the recipe to be able to do it, but he hasn’t ever had anything like this.”

The 76ers have not made it to the NBA Finals since 2001 – 25 years ago. However, they may have finally assembled the team to go all the way this time around.

James’ accolades speak for themselves, while Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown have had great starts to the season. Even VJ Edgecombe has been really impressive.

If the Sixers can keep Joel Embiid fit for large parts of the season, Iverson’s prediction may well come true.
