Recruiting predictions for where Lewis Uvwo, Reese Alston, and DeMarcus Henry will commit

October 28, 2026 · by SPW Pipeline

Commitment season is in full swing, and Kentucky Basketball is heavily involved, with three players set to announce their commitments over the next three days.

Lewis Uvwo, Reese Alston, and DeMarcus Henry, three top-10 recruits in the class of 2027, will decide where they’ll play college basketball.

Here are my predictions on where they will all land.

Lewis Uvwo – Baylor Bears

The best defensive player in the class, by far, will ultimately land in Waco, Texas, and become a Baylor Bear. Uvwo is one of the best shot-blockers we’ve seen in a while, standing at 6-foot-11 with a 7-foot-6 wingspan; the man can protect the rim with the best of them.

Even though Mark Pope and his staff spent a ton of time recruiting him, I think he will decide to play for Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears over Kentucky, California, and Providence. Kentucky will be forced to pivot to other bigs, such as Paul Osaruyi or Cherif Millogo, to fill the frontcourt.

With the assumption that Malachi Moreno is headed off to the NBA after his sophomore season, there will be a spot for the taking in Lexington.

Uvwo will make his decision on Wednesday, October 28, at 3:30 PM ET.

Reese Alston – LSU Tigers

Mark Pope prioritized Alston above all of the other guards in the class of 2027. Pope even went so far as to choose the Puma Pro16 over heading to Peach Jam on day one to watch other elite prospects.

As for other connections, Pope played in the NBA with his father, Rafer Alston, aka Skip to My Lou. Kentucky assistant coach Mikhail McLean attended the same high school as the elite point guard prospect, so take that for what it’s worth.

Other guards are out there, but as for true points, Alston has been viewed by many as being in that top tier of point guards in the class, along with Cayden Daughtry and Beckham Black, but Kentucky hasn’t had much contact with those two. I think Will Wade lands his first big-fish recruit since his return to Baton Rouge and begins to fill his year-two roster in a non-shady way, unlike year one.

I believe the 6-foot-2 point guard will choose the Tigers over Kentucky, Wichita State, Tennessee, and Louisville.

Alston will make his decision on Thursday, October 29 at 4:00 PM ET.

DeMarcus Henry – North Carolina Tar Heels

The Charlotte native will be headed home to play for the Tar Heels. Henry is a kid whose recruitment has been documented in a ton of recap videos from his time on campus. He just recently wrapped up a visit to Chapel Hill, and there was one huge takeaway: he received a call from Michael Jordan.

It appears head coach Michael Malone is pulling out all the stops to land the big-time recruit, and it appears to be working. Mark Pope won’t be going down without a fight, with him making a trip out to see him in Arizona days before the decision.

A couple of other coaches are doing the same, the team down I-64 and Kentucky’s former coach. Pat Kelsey and John Calipari also made the trip and headed out to see Henry before his final decision. Surely there won’t be any drama, right?

On top of all three of those visitors, Michael Malone and his staff will also meet with Henry one more time in person on Wednesday, out in Arizona. I think it’s too little, too late for Kentucky, Louisville, and Arkansas, as Henry will go to play for North Carolina.

Henry will make his decision on Friday, October 30, but doesn’t have a specific time yet.

Sadly, I predict the Cats will strike out with these three, missing out on all three. It’s about time for Pope to land his huge, top-10 recruit, but he just hasn’t been able to get it done, and I think that trend will continue this week.
