In the last year, several iconic WWE personalities have called it over. Last year, in Mid 2025, Goldberg retired from pro-wrestling after losing to Gunther. It was then followed by John Cena in Dec. 2025 and AJ Styles in Jan. 2026.
Earlier this year, Brock Lesnar also retired from WWE, while Rey Mysterio has seemingly teased retiring soon. With retirements in question, AEW’s Adam Copeland has also opened up about retiring from in-ring action next year in 2027.
Recently, amongst all of these, Mike Johnson at PWInsider reported that long-term WWE veteran Bruce Prichard is also expected to retire from his position as Executive Director – Creative Writing & Talent (CWT) once WrestleMania 43 is done. It was further noted that, despite his retirement, Prichard will remain connected to the promotion on a consultancy basis. However, he would no longer retain his current duties nor would he be based in Stamford, CT.

However, Fightful Select later added to this report and claimed that Prichard’s retirement from a full-time role is something that will happen in the coming years. Fightful Select reported that with the promotion heading in a new direction, “currently contracted talent” is expected to transition over to roles behind the scenes.
Fightful Select also added that Prichard plans to work from home after undergoing an upcoming neck surgery. “Bruce Prichard’s plan is to work from home following a very serious surgery that he needs,” Fightful Select wrote. It further added that despite PWInsider’s report on him retiring, things currently suggest him remaining with the company and working in a remote position. It was noted that Prichard was the one running the last few shows, when Triple H was on vacation.
