The Minnesota Vikings have so much to smile about right now, as they just wrapped up Week 7 of the NFL with another win and an undefeated record. They’re the only team in the NFL that’s still undefeated, too. Who would’ve thought? The Vikings really weren’t at the top of the power rankings going into the season, but times have changed, and this team’s defense is absolutely rock-solid.
Not everyone has been a huge part of the Vikings’ success this season, though. One NFL analyst sees this team as actually entertaining the idea of a trade involving one of its players who’s been fairly uninvolved this year.
Vikings could trade Jauan Jennings before the NFL trade deadline as the undefeated team looks to make the most of its roster
On Tuesday, Jared Dubin of CBS Sports released a feature laying out some trade options. One of them is the Vikings trading wide receiver Jauan Jennings. It would be a surprising move, but Dubin points out why it could make sense.
Jennings, he says, "has so far been entirely uninvolved in the Vikings’ offense. It would be surprising to see the league’s last remaining unbeaten team make a trade where they give away an asset instead of acquire one, but given Jennings’ lack of role and the number of teams in need of wide receiver help, this is certainly a situation worth monitoring."
The Vikings are relying on players like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison a lot this season, as they should. So, it’s certainly the case that Jennings just hasn’t been as crucial to this team’s development. Whether that means they’re willing to trade him is a gamble. They need to keep their offense as strong as possible to complement what’s clearly going right on defense.
