Brewers’ Bullpen Most Valuable Group in Title Run
Behind their bullpen, the Milwaukee Brewers crushed the Tampa Bay Rays en route to the championship.
The Brewers’ ace Jacob Misiorowski and William Contreras also piled on surgical performances.
Can’t Hit on the Bullpen
The bullpen pitched 25 innings of work in the World Series, surrendering just two earned runs.
Abner Uribe for 4. Aaron Ashby for 5. Trevor Megill for 3.

Even when it felt like the Brewers’ bullpen was able to let the chickens out, they kept the door closed.
With the potential winning run in play, Trevor Megill’s knuckle curve ball sealed the deal in game one.
Going into this series, the bullpen had pitched more innings than the starters in the postseason.
That stat right there shows the bullpen unit was the most valuable.
Ace Pitcher Hits the Jackpot
Misiorowski went 2-0 in the playoffs with 1.89 ERA.
He has arguably the best fastball pitch in baseball.
It was about bending but not breaking in the clinching game. While he only recorded two strikeouts and put four batters on base in 5.2 innings of work, Rays batter failed to get good contact on his pitches.
Countless fastballs that went over 100 mph led to ground balls and flyouts kept the Rays at bay.
The Brewers bullpen threw 123 pitches last night, about a 17-per-player average
Jacob Misiorowski NEEDS to get through five tonight. His starts this October:
4.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K vs. SD
4.1 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K vs. LAD

World Series MVP
Contreras did it all for the Brewers.
His crucial hits and taking out four runners trying to steal gave the Brewers an edge.
As the catcher, he’s also calculating to his pitchers what pitch to throw.
He also won 10 of 13 challenges with the automated ball-strike system. One thing to note is that he constantly challenged even with the Brewers ahead of the count.
Contreras’ strategy was to put out a fire before it happened.
His base running delivered the final blow to the Rays.
Another key play by William Contreras, this time securing a run with this great baserunning before diving into home plate.

Alongside Misiorowski and Contreras’ heroics, the historic bullpen that pitched more innings than the starters is what made this title run special.
