How social media reacted to North Carolina landing DeMarcus Henry

The North Carolina Tar Heels received some good news on Friday afternoon, just a few days before they are set to begin the 2026-27 college basketball season. But the news has to do with the future of the program.

On Friday, five-star recruit DeMarcus Henry officially pledged his commitment to the Tar Heels, giving Michael Malone his first big recruit in the 2027 class. With Malone and the Tar Heels landing Henry, the work to build the class continues on. They have a few more big targets left on their board and if they can have success for a few more commits, it will be HUGE for the future of the program.

Henry made his decision live on ESPN, picking UNC over Arkansas, Kentucky, and Louisville. He’s the No. 2 overall recruit on the ESPN 2027 rankings and is a consensus top-five player in the 2027 class.

As Henry made his decision live on ESPN, UNC fans took to social media to react to the big news.

Massive recruiting win for Michael Malone and UNC, as five-star forward DeMarcus Henry — a top-5 player in the 2027 class — commits to the Tar Heels.

Henry becomes the highest-ranked prospect in 2027 to commit so far, and validates Malone’s strategy of big-game hunting.

Kentucky fans react to losing DeMarcus Henry

Demarcus Henry is very overrated. Totally fine with missing on him and saving $. Call it cope, I call it facts. #BBN#DemarcusHenry

Demarcus Henry commits to North Carolina.

Three commitments in the last three days for big-time Kentucky targets:

Lewis Uvwo – Providence
Reese Alston – LSU
Demarcus Henry – North Carolina

I guess it does open up some clarity for the other big-time prospects Kentucky has been…

Coach Malone and North Carolina went all-in on landing DeMarcus Henry and it paid off.
