The Green Bay Packers’ victory on Thursday Night Football was overshadowed by wide receiver Christian Watson’s injury and speedy recovery.
Matt LaFleur’s team improved their record to 5-3 on the year with their victory at Lambeau Field against the Carolina Panthers. It was not all smooth sailing, though, with Watson requiring a trip to the local hospital during the game.
The Packers’ star wideout made a quick recovery as he returned to the game in WWE-fashion, out of the ambulance to run back to the field. It really was quite the spectacle and it took many by surprise, including Skip Bayless, who expected Watson to be out for the remainder of the game following his injury.
Skip Bayless left stunned by Christian Watson’s return to Packers victory
It was another impressive night for Watson as he managed to tally up another 113 receiving yards on the season. However, people across the nation were left stunned after he heroically ran out of the ambulance and back to the field of play.
“I have never ever seen an NFL player be taken to the hospital for tests during the game, return to the stadium AND GO BACK INTO THE GAME. Christian Watson just did that,” said Bayless on X.
The desire from Watson to still return to the game goes to show just what type of character the wideout provides the Packers and LaFleur. He even admitted that he pleaded with the team doctors not to undergo a CT scan at the hospital.
Attention will now be turning to the severity of Watson’s rib injury which caused him to receive medical attention in the first place. The Packers are not in action until next Sunday when they make the trip to the New England Patriots.
Players have played with a broken rib before and Watson clearly has the mindset of wanting to be out on the field at every possible opportunity. Perhaps the extra few days of rest could work to his advantage ahead of the trip to New England.
