Tevez reveals the winning mix behind Manchester United’s Rooney-Ronaldo-Tevez attack

Carlos Tevez has said Wayne Rooney was his favourite teammate and discussed why the pair and Cristiano Ronaldo made such a good frontline at Manchester United.

Tevez starred alongside Rooney and Ronaldo during a two-season spell at Manchester United between 2007 and 2009.

The Argentine’s first season at Old Trafford saw Sir Alex Ferguson’s side win aPremier League and Champions League double, with the trio scoring 79 goals between them in all competitions.

Ronaldo ended that campaign with 42 goals to win the Ballon d’Or for the first time. Their partnership is widely recognised as one of the best front threes of the modern era, and Tevez has revealed how the ‘street’ style of himself and Rooney supported the ‘glamour’ Ronaldo brought to the side.

"I think, without meaning to, we ended up with me, Rooney and with Ronaldo,"Tevez told former teammate Rio Ferdinand.

"Two players, very, very aggressive, real street players, one who came from England and one who came from Argentina. And Cristiano, who gave that team glamour.

"But we also had Carrick, and we had Giggs too, who had that [glamour] style of play. Then we had Scholes, Rooney, and me, who were much more aggressive."

Tevez reveals Rooney was his favourite teammate: “We both had the same feeling for playing football”

Rooney has previously credited Tevez has his favourite striker partner, and the Argentine admitted the feeling is mutual. He believes he and Rooney shared a similarly passionate style.

"Yes, because for me it was easy to play with him. I felt the same passion that he feels for football. We both had the same feeling for playing football."
