The Philadelphia 76ers had one of the best offseasons of any team in the NBA, and it all started with a blockbuster deal for Jaylen Brown. That move alone has made Brown one of the biggest additions for any team this summer.
Making that move also opened the door for one of the greatest players in NBA history to join the team. LeBron James signed a two-year deal with Philadelphia.
“LeBron James is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers for his final run at another NBA championship, he announced Friday," ESPN’s Dave McMenamin wrote. "James, 41, is signing a two-year, $8 million contract with a player option, Klutch Sports Group CEO Rich Paul told ESPN’s Shams Charania."
One of the biggest challenges for James in making this move is that his family remained in Los Angeles while he splits his time between New York and Philadelphia. The four-time NBA champion has made it clear that living away from his family can be difficult at times.
“Every day is getting better, and obviously I’m gonna have some days where some days will be better than others. But when I get to the facility, around these guys, it definitely helps," James said.
James has now been playing with the 76ers for almost a month, including both the preseason and regular season. Recently, the future Hall of Famer spoke with Steve Nash about what it has been like playing in Philadelphia so far.
“So far so great. The organization is unbelievable…. I think every day, every week, every month, I’ll continue to get better and better. My body will continue to ramp up and the play will get better,” James said.
The 76ers have looked really good early in the season, and they are dangerous in several ways. However, James knows the team still has work to do before reaching the level of chemistry it wants.
The four-time NBA champion has made it clear that he is enjoying his time in Philadelphia, which could be an important factor in the team’s success. As long as James remains happy and comfortable, the 76ers will have another key piece in place as they continue building chemistry.
