Dodgers Favored Over Brewers for 2027 World Series Despite Sweep

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the gambling favorites, but their standing in the power rankings remains inconsistent.

Dodgers’ conflicting favorite stuff

According to Fantastics Sportsbook, the Dodgers are the +310 favorite for the 2027 World Series from the outset, even after the Milwaukee Brewers won the World Series.

In second place are the incumbent Brewers, at +500, followed by the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies.

While not an overwhelming favorite, it is still quite wild to see the Brewers under the Dodgers, given that Milwaukee just swept Los Angeles.

Gambling models still seem to give the Dodgers brand a lot of credence, but the outright power rankings market tells a different story.

The Dodgers rank No. 2 in ESPN’s and The Athletic’s power rankings, both below the Brewers.

Why the Dodgers still have a strong status

The Dodgers have one of the best farm systems in baseball, with multiple young players on the cusp of making the 40-man roster and others still far away with a promising future.

Additionally, the Dodgers should flex their spending ability over the next month in case this is their last chance to spend without a salary cap.

The team has the capital to improve a team that reached the NLDS convincingly, and with more health for players like Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, it’s reasonable to expect the Dodgers to win the World Series next year.

Additionally, the Brewers may end up trading or losing a lot of their key players, since they tend not to re-sign many players to big contracts.

A weakening of the Brewers and a strengthening of the Dodgers may be all it takes to flip the scales of power.
