ESPN College GameDay headed to Miami vs Notre Dame. Buy game tickets
No surprise here: ESPN’s prestigious "College GameDay" pregame show is headed to Miami vs. Notre Dame for one of the most anticipated games of the 2026 college football season.
The show made it official Oct. 31 as the Fighting Irish were wrapping up a 35-13 win at Navy. Their announcement post proclaimed the Nov. 7 tilt "one of the games of the year."
It’s not an understatement. The No. 1 Hurricanes could enter the matchup an undefeated 8-0 if they win at North Carolina in prime time Oct. 31. Notre Dame ranks No. 6 in the US LBM Coaches Poll and No. 5 in the AP poll. Though the Irish lost Oct. 17 at BYU, they remain a favorite to go deep in the College Football Playoff.

Then there’s the personal history between the teams, which dates back to the infamous "Catholics vs. Convicts" game in 1988. The rivalry took on a heated new chapter in 2025, when the teams opened the season with an incredible matchup that saw Miami come away with a 27-24 win in South Florida. Both teams finished the season 10-2, and though Notre Dame was placed ahead in the CFP rankings leading up to Selection Sunday, the head-to-head win gave Miami the final slot in the 12-team playoff.
The decision has been eating away at Notre Dame ever since, especially with the Canes running all the way to the national championship game as a result. The return date to South Bend has been circled as one of the biggest games on the sport’s calendar since the schedules came out.
"College GameDay" tends to travel to what its producers consider the top game of the week. Nov. 7 will mark the first time Miami will be in the feature role since hosting Florida on Sept. 20, 2025. It will be Notre Dame’s second time in four weeks (the show also came to Provo, Utah, for the BYU game), but it will be the first time visiting South Bend since the 2024 first-round CFP matchup against Indiana.
The Canes have won their last four "GameDay" games and are 17-9 all-time in the feature spot, according to the NCAA.
