LeBron James injury update: 76ers to miss 2nd game vs Hornets

October 31, 2026 · by SPW Pipeline

The Philadelphia 76ers beat the New York Knicks 114-106 on Friday night, with LeBron James posting a season-best 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Joel Embiid added 10 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the win.

The result capped a stretch in which both stars have handled a heavy workload, including a comeback from 29 points down against the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier in the week. With a back-to-back on the schedule, the team’s latest injury report brought a different story.

LeBron James and Joel Embiid will both miss Saturday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets, the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey reported. James is listed with back management, and Embiid with foot management.

Forward Jaylen Brown, who missed Friday’s game, is questionable with left knee soreness. Tacko Fall and Jabari Walker are also questionable, while Dominick Barlow is out.

It marks the second time this season Philadelphia has rested its two stars for the same game, both on the second night of a back-to-back.

Why the 76ers are managing LeBron James, Joel Embiid together

Head coach Nick Nurse has leaned on load management for both players throughout the young season, pairing their rest days on the tougher half of back-to-backs.

James, 41, is in his first season with Philadelphia after signing a two-year deal, and the team has been deliberate about his minutes across an 82-game slate.

Philadelphia hosts the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, with both James and Embiid expected back in the lineup after Saturday’s rest.
