Updated 2026 Heisman Trophy odds: Darian Mensah, Malachi Toney move closer to rare feat

November 1, 2026 · by SPW Pipeline

The Miami Hurricanes are in a great position as the College Football Playoff nears next month. However, two of the team’s biggest stars are also in line for the most prestigious trophy in the sport with Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney having fantastic seasons.

Miami’s 8-0 this season after securing a narrow win over Bill Belichick and North Carolina on Saturday night. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes’ top offensive talents continue to put themselves firmly in the Heisman Trophy race.

In fact, the latest Heisman odds on DraftKings Sportsbook show that the road to the award goes through Miami. Both Mensah and Toney are featured as two of the top three nominees with just a few weeks remaining in the regular season.

The ACC team has four remaining games on its schedule before the CFP, including a massive showdown with Notre Dame in Week 10. The Fighting Irish were controversially left out of last season’s CFP, while the Hurricanes secured the final spot.

Miami duo can join unique club

Heisman Hurricane in Miami? Darian Mensah (+160) and Malachi Toney (+300) are now the top 2 favorites to win the Heisman Trophy, per DraftKings👀 They could possibly be the 2nd teammates to finish 1-2 in Heisman voting along with Army’s Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis in 1945😮 https://t.co/vX4BeC7iyP

The obvious goal for the Hurricanes is to win a national championship, especially after the team’s dramatic loss to Indiana last season. Meanwhile, Mensah and Toney’s epic season also deserves to be celebrated.

Mensah and Toney currently hold +156 and +305 odds, respectively. Other top stars like Trinidad Chambliss and CJ Carr are well below the Miami duo.

The rarity of their incredible play is on display with one insane stat. ESPN Insights reveals that college football teammates haven’t finished as the top two Heisman vote getters in 81 years.

Army’s duo of Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis were the last players to accomplish the rare feat back in 1945.

This season, it appears that there’s a very solid chance for the Hurricanes stars to etch their own names into history. The only other lead contender in the Heisman race is Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith.
