What’s the MLB schedule for postseason awards like Cy Young, MVP?
The Milwaukee Brewers, with a World Series championship already in their trophy case, will be among the frontrunners to get more trophies when Major League Baseball announces its postseason awards, including high-profile plaudits given by the Baseball Writers Association of America.
We already know the recipients of the annual Gold Gloves, with Brewers second baseman Brice Turang and left fielder Jackson Chourio selected to win the prestigious award from Rawlings for their defense. It’s Turang’s second Gold Glove and Chourio’s first.
Here’s what’s still to come:
Nov. 2: Finalists for major awards announced
Starting at 5 p.m. CT, the MLB Network will hold a special to announce the three finalists in each major awards category. They’re the three players who had the highest vote totals.
Finalists for the Silver Slugger Awards will be announced Nov. 5.
Nov. 6: Platinum Glove and Heart & Hustle Award
Turang won a Platinum Glove Award two years ago, but it’s a bit of a long shot that one of the Brewers’ Gold Glove recipients will win this year. Rawlings gives the awards to the American League’s and National League’s best defender at any position.
On the same date, the MLB Players Alumni Association will present the Heart & Hustle Award to the player who "demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game." All 30 teams have a nominee for the award; the Brewers’ is Sal Frelick.
Nov. 9: Rookie of the Year
The top rookie, as selected by the baseball writers, will get announced for each league. Though Logan Henderson had a great year for Milwaukee, the Brewers probably won’t have a top-three finisher in this award given the high volume of top candidates in the NL.
Nov. 10: Manager of the Year
The top manager, as selected by the baseball writers, will get announced for each league. Brewers manager Pat Murphy is the prohibitive favorite to win an unprecedented third consecutive award. BetMGM gives Murphy odds of minus-425, well ahead of Atlanta’s Walt Weiss (plus-400).
Nov. 11: Cy Young and Relief Pitcher of the Year
The top pitcher, selected by the baseball writers, will get announced for each league. Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski is nearly a lock to win this award, and he would join Rollie Fingers (1981), Pete Vuckovich (1982) and Corbin Burnes (2021) as past Brewers winners. With odds of minus-10,000, Misiorowski basically has a 99% chance of winning, according to BetMGM.
The top relief pitcher, also selected by the baseball writers in a new addition to the awards list, will also be announced. It’s possible Aaron Ashby or Trevor Megill get some votes, but the award will almost surely go to San Diego’s Mason Miller.
Also Nov. 11: All-MLB teams
The first and second All-MLB teams will be unveiled as well, with a pick at each position (including three outfielders and a designated hitter) with five starters and two relievers. Candidates from Milwaukee include Turang, William Contreras, Jake Bauers and Misiorowski. Turang was a second-team pick last year.

Other awards Nov. 11
The Executive of the Year (Brewers general manager Matt Arnold, perhaps, for a third straight year?) will also be named Nov. 11, as well as the Hank Aaron Award, Comeback Player of the Year, the Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman Reliever of the Year Awards and the Edgar Martinez Outstanding DH of the Year award. These awards are selected by MLB.
So, yes, there are now two awards for relief pitchers.
The Hank Aaron Award, acknowledging baseball’s best overall player, includes Bauers among the NL finalists.
Nov. 12: MVP
The most valuable player, as selected by the baseball writers, will get announced for each league. The Brewers probably won’t have a "finalist" in this category, but players like Turang should at least get some votes.
Nov. 17: Silver Sluggers
The best offensive player at each position in each league will earn the distinction presented by Louisville Slugger. The Brewers didn’t have any recipients last year.
