It has been a difficult season for Oregon Football. They are 5-3 this year after having expectations to make a deep run in the College Football Playoffs in the preseason. Oregon has dealt with plenty of injuries this year, including a season-ending injury to quarterback Dante Moore.

Now, Oregon is going to be without another top player for their offense, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

“Oregon is expected to be without standout running back Jordon Davison against No. 12 Ohio State Saturday due to a lower extremity injury, sources tell CBSSports. On a positive note, it’s considered a short-term injury and a week-to-week type situation, per sources,” Zenitz posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Davison was injured in the win over Northwestern, after carrying the ball just three times for 17 yards. He has been a bright spot for the offense this year. He has run for 439 yards and seven touchdowns this year. The back has also scored touchdowns in six of eight games this season.

With Davison out of the lineup, Dierre Hill Jr. and Brandon Smith will be the primary running backs this week against Ohio State. Hill has run the ball 83 times for 399 yards and three touchdowns this year. Meanwhile, Smith has run the ball 32 times this year for 207 yards and two touchdowns.

The Ducks will need to have both their running game and passing game going in this one. Ohio State is not only a top 15 offense in the nation, but also a top 15 defense. They are 11th in opponent points per game and eighth in opponent yards per game. Further, they are 12th against the run and 17th against the pass.

Oregon and Ohio State kick off at 3:30 pm ET on Saturday in Columbus.
