The Philadelphia Eagles have had to make some difficult decisions with their quarterback room over the past couple of weeks, unfortunately because of Jalen Hurts’ injury.
It remains unclear what the Eagles plan to do over the next couple of days before the NFL trade deadline, but reports indicate Philadelphia is starting Joe Milton against the New York Giants on Sunday.
This will allow the Eagles an opportunity to figure out if they can salvage their season, as the only concern with this team has really been on the offensive side of the football.
The defense hasn’t been as great as it typically is, but it’s still been better than the offense. If the offense can do what’s needed, it should be more than fine. If Milton doesn’t play the type of football everybody’s hoping for, Philadelphia could still make a trade for a player who hasn’t proven a whole lot yet but has a ton of upside.
That guy would be none other than Anthony Richardson. After the Baltimore Ravens traded for Jacoby Brissett, it feels like Richardson’s the type of player other teams could be interested in.
CBS recently suggested the Ravens could have moved Richardson before this trade, but with Brissett now getting the job, it’s interesting to think about how those same benefits in Baltimore could translate to Philadelphia with Saquon Barkley.
“Anthony Richardson Jr. requested a trade from the Colts earlier this year. He hasn’t gotten one, but the Colts are blowing it up this trade deadline, and even a late-round pick swap could be attractive for Indianapolis. A Richardson-Henry backfield certainly carries a lot of downhill running heft,” CBS’ Zachary Pereles wrote.
Richardson’s best feature is his ability to use his legs and throw a deep ball with the best of them in the NFL. It’ll be interesting to see if he gets dealt at this year’s deadline, but it doesn’t really feel like Indianapolis has much of a need anymore.
The Colts have also struggled a good bit recently, which could lead to a quarterback change.
Regardless, it feels like changes could be coming soon, so we should at least see him on the field, whether that’s in Philadelphia, Indianapolis, or with another team.
