Luka Dončic had a back-and-forth with someone other than a referee or Yaxel Lendeborg during a game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers star interacted with a man seated courtside, after the fan threw a ball at a female official a bit too heartily for Dončic’s liking.
In video from the moment on Wednesday, Nov. 4, the ball landed out of bounds and into the lap of the man seated on the front row at Golden 1 Center.
The man quickly picked the ball up and threw it to the official, who was standing along the baseline, and seemingly not prepared to catch it.

Dončic, who was in the vicinity, gestured to the man.
“What the f— are you doing?” Dončic, 27, angrily appeared to say to the fan.

The unidentified man gamely raised both of his hands up in peace as if to defuse the situation. In the video, however, security personnel was seen escorting the man away from his seat.
Later, after Dončic finished his third consecutive game with 40 or more points and the team dispatched the 1-7 Kings, 116-103, the star guard clarified his stance on having the fan removed.
“He just tossed it really strong — the ball — toward the ref,” Dončic said. “I just asked him what the hell he’s doing.”
Over his tenure in L.A. and even before with the Dallas Mavericks, Dončic has gained a reputation for arguing with refs.
Last week, the Slovenian star was seen pleading his case with a ref to the point that he couldn’t get back on defense.
At least one pundit has a theory for the player’s strategy.
“On defense, do you know why Luka Dončic complains to the refs on every offensive possession? It’s very obvious. Because if you’re complaining to the refs, you don’t have to run back down the floor on defense,” sports personality Max Kellerman said on his podcast Game Over last week.
He added, “It’s No. 1. Beyond not moving his feet or everything. No. 1 is it’s five-on-four on the other end of the floor because he thinks he’s being slick, complaining as though everyone can’t see. No, you’re just being lazy. Get up and run your ass back on defense.”
