New WWE Intercontinental Champion named Shelby’s Wrestler of the Week
About the Series: Shelby’s Wrestling Corner discusses wrestlers in AEW and WWE who made an impact over the last week. Whether it’s a cool move that made the crowd gasp or a promo that stuck with fans days later, this is a place to celebrate professional wrestling. This week, we will be looking at performances from Oct. 30 to Nov. 5.
The World Heavyweight and Undisputed titles are the top belts to hold in WWE. There is no doubt about that. If you hold these championships, like Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns currently do, you are on the top of the mountain. I am not here to doubt those titles, but for me the Intercontinental Championship has always been my favorite.
The white leather strap was iconic and it has been held by some of my favorite wrestlers like The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Seth Rollins, Umaga and Shawn Michaels.
Now, it is being held by the newest Wrestler of the Week, Ethan Page.
Having been a fan of Ethan Page since his AEW days, all I can say is this man continually gets better every time I see him. Yes, he has had some interesting tag team partner choices that I didn’t, and still don’t, understand, but he is champion now on his own.
I think the Intercontinental Championship is perfect for All Ego Ethan Page. This new chapter in his career will have him on the microphone more, which he is great at, and fighting new opponents, who he is sure to beat.
Plus, as a known wrestling figure collector, I can’t help but celebrate when a fellow nerd who goes on toy hunts wins a championship.
