Rutgers football loses top offensive lineman for remainder of season
MADISON, Wisconsin – The hits keep on coming for Rutgers football.
The Scarlet Knights have suffered another tough injury, this time to top offensive lineman Kobe Asamoah.
Asamoah had surgery today after suffering a high-ankle sprain, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed.
While he will miss the remainder of the season – Rutgers has four games left starting with its game against Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 7 – Asamoah is expected to make a full recovery and resume football activities in January.
Rutgers football offensive lineman Kobe Asamoah returns in 2026 to help anchor a unit that’s looking to make strides under new coach Jim Turner.
That’s important for Asamoah since he’s poised to become the first Rutgers offensive lineman selected in the NFL Draft since Anthony Davis in 2010.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to report Asamoah underwent season-ending surgery.
The Ohio native was a stalwart for Rutgers’ offensive line, starting every game at right guard since the start of the 2024 season.
Since joining the program as part of the 2022 recruiting class, Asamoah developed into a high-level lineman for a unit that had made strides.
